Why not use the ALTER-PRINTER feature (to use that, though, you need to change all the old declares (Report/Printer/Layout) to the new format).
I have had to use -Printer:WP when I get the -6003 error on printing. This takes the output file and sends it to Windows default printer. Therefore you must always send to file (and BTW, the output file is deleted after being sent to printer); sending to printer is not a workable option.
There are several other tricks I've used to handle odd-ball situations; let me (us) know if what I stated above was insufficient.

2)this prints $micr ok when i use -printer:wp and send it to file on the
client, but prints on letter size.
3)when i send it to printer, it prints garbage.
4)when i don't use -printer:wp and send to printer directly it prints on legal
paper as i wanted but doesn't use the micr font to print $micr, rather it uses
the standard times new roman font.
5)when i use -keep or -ziv along with -printer::wp it creates spf but the spf
doesn't contain the $micr in the micr format but shows up in plain font
format.
6)** my problem is, its truncating the output when i use -printer:wp because
its printing on letter size.
*** I need to print it on legal paper.
any kinda suggestions r greatly appriciated, nearing the dead line.
