Unix to MVS Conversion

Hi all,

I'm new to the user group, relatively new to SQRibe and I am in dire need of
some of your wisdom, in relation to SQR on a Mainframe under MVS.

I have written several reports in SQR 4.0, which run via shell scripts on a
Unix box and accessing an Oracle database.

This has been a bit of an accelerated learning process, and after finally
resurfacing I have been given another challenge, to be completed by the end
of this month.

I have to move and convert all reports to SQR 4.3, running via JCL on a
mainframe under MVS and using a DB2 database........

The documentation I have is limited, with only a few references to MVS, so I
am praying for guidance here. The only silver lining is that I have worked
on the mainframe under MVS before.

Any advice is WAY more than welcome:

1 How do I compile, particularly programs use "include" files ?
                - What is the compile command and options.
                - Anything "special" required for "include" files, or just
have them in the same directory (dataset).
                - Where does the ".sqt" file get created (is it .sqt ??).
2 I think I have found some example run JCL but any pointers
welcomed.
3 We used to use "DISTILLER" to convert ".ps" to ".pdf" files for
viewing in Acrobat.
                - Can we now create PDF files directly ? or
                - Is there a similar product/method on MVS since "DISTILLER"
is not available (otherwise our client will need to keep the
Unix box just for "DISTILLER".....).
4 Are there any pitfalls involved in moving from Oracle to DB2 ?

TYIA,

Tony
