Joe,

SQR 3.x stored dates in sting variables.  SQR 4.3.4 has a date variable
type.  The date variable type will accept a null date (quote-quote), but
not a string with a space (quote-space-quote). Unfortunately both string
variables and date variables begin with a $, so its difficult to know
what type of variable you are dealing with.

Oracle 8 (upgrade from Oracle 7)
PS Apps 7.02 (upgrade from 7.01)
PS Tools 7.05 (upgrade from 7.01)
SQRW 4.3.4 (upgrade from 3)


We are finding that SQR 4.3.4 bombs on SQRs that initialize
$date_variables to ' ' {that is, quote-space-quote}.

We changed this to '' {quote-quote} and they work.

The quote-space-quote worked fine in SQRW 3.

Anybody else run into this?  Want to explain why?
