Exceed is a grouping of software that allows you to (naming just a few)
ftp, telnet, gopher, irc, display xsessions on your NT/Windows desktop

I am not sure, but I think he is confusing a macro in emacs (a glorified
but very good unix editor that happens to hog a chunk of memory :)
with a whole suite that allows you to emulate UNIX on a desktop
workstation. I haven't seen anything emacs specific, but maybe someone
else has.

You probably already know this, but I include it here for other folks...
When you start emacs, say by typing emacs -nw (non windows mode)
then you can do several things by going into certain "modes"
When you start the window the command sequence to look at the tutorial is
displayed and that is where I sugest most people to start... ignore Exceed
for now... it only adds a layer of distraction and
rabbits you down another hole entirely. The software is made by
Hummingbird (I like it a great deal for the limited stuff I need to do)

Oh, btw, The meta key referred to as M is actually the Esc key.

There are some very good FAQs dealing with emacs...
I like geek girl :)
So I include it here:
http://www.geek-girl.com/emacs/faq/

Someone may have come up with their own SQR mode somewhere for it.
I'd ask their mailing list.

Hope this helps.
