Hi Joe
I think when you initialize $check_dt to this '' or to this ' ' it will be
treated as string variable rather than date variable. So in SETUP section
declare $check_dt as date variable as shown below.
DECLARE-VARIABLE
date $check_dt
END-DECLARE
