i had this happen  and is terrible with highly formatted report, when your
report resumes after finishing the interjection you will lose all formating
problem in particular if you run out of paper and time out you can lose the
connection when you refill

Running under NT4. on the server, the Lan guy set some paramenters
on the printserver that kept the printer from Hunting away.  Apparantly he
could adjust the "Dwell time" on the print server (in a dialog box) before
the printer assumed you were done and looked for the next job.  perhaps
setting it to infinite.

Further I believe a specific named user can be given pre-emptive rights on
the server to estop all others till the premium user's job is done.

using one or both of these techniques on the print server queue he solved the
problem in NT 4.
