Sharon,
I too defend others rights to use TABS... as long as they don't
inadvertently modify one of my programs with them... when this occurs
I'm overcome with a feeling similar to "road rage"... I'll refer to this
as "TAB rage"... A programmer at a client site browsed some of my
programs for some SQR tips and mistakenly saved each one with his
totally obscure editor... it not only removed all my indentation but it
inserted tabs and outdated formatting characters that caused SQR to crap
the bed! Fortunately I had everything backed up... Do yourself and
others a favor and don't use any special characters... source code
should remain as generic as possible...
For those who may argue that TABS are okay consider this...
A) TABS may cause problems when there is no standard editor between
programmers...
Why taint the source code for the mere luxury of laziness?
B) Generic, TAB-free source code NEVER causes a problem
As you may have noticed this topic is one of my many pet peeves...
