Re: Security in Peoplesoft SQR
I haven't seen 7.5 yet - so not sure what security view you are talking
about instead of PERS_SRCH_GBL and EMPLMT_SRCH_GBL.
As I recall (since I don't have PeopleSoft handy to verify this) - there is
no difference with these 2 views used from within SQR. However - from
within PeopleSoft - the SearchList flag is different. Using the views - the
following Searhlist Box are shown:
- PERS_SRCH_GBL - online selects EMPLID as the key and NAME, LASTNAME as the
alternate key.
- EMPLMT_SRCH_GBL - online selects EMPLID, EMPL_RCD# as the key and NAME,
LASTNAME as the alternate key.
Online - The EMPL_RCD# is only noticed if Multiple Jobs is activate.
Hope this answers your question.
Heather.

Subject: Security in Peoplesoft SQR
Hi all,
For any of you who have incorporated department security into a
Peoplesoft SQR, I wonder if I could ask for some feedback. I have
an SQR report I need to write for version 6 of HRMS, and while I
realize that there are several SQR's in HRMS 7.5 (which we're
upgrading to,) I need to write something now. Here's what I'm
wondering: I ran a query with the tables I need, so I could see what
SQL was generated for the department security. What baffles me
is that the query imbeds two security views - PERS_SRCH_GBL
and EMPLMT_SRCH_GBL. When I look at the SQL for both views,
the fields and selection criteria look identical. The only difference is
a slight difference in the order of the fields in the two views.
Have any of you written an SQR and imbedded security for
retrieval of PERSONAL_DATA and JOB data? If so, have you
imbedded both security views or just one? The two SQR's in HRMS
7.5 that use security (PER007 being one,) use an entirely different
security view and I'm wondering if this new view replaces the
PERS_SRCH_GBL and EMPLMT_SRCH_GBL views? I'd welcome
any feedback from your experience with this. Thanks in advance...
Regards,
Glenn Ackerson
P.S. Since I read the messages for this listserve in digest mode,
would you mind responding to me directly? Thanks much!
