How about taking the easy way out? Replace the & with AND. :-) Special
charcaters are a pain in the butt.

Hopefully, this is an easy one. Here is an example:
update ps_dept_tble
set descr = 'Research & Development'
where deptid like '1847%'
The ampersand(&) is looked at as a replacement variable. What do I need to
surround it with so that the program ignores the ampersand and considers it
part of the string?
