SQR 4.3.2 buggy??????

Helloooooo guru and guruettes,

Oracle 8.05 or something like that
PS 7.52
SQR 4.3.2 and 4.2.3
Unix

OK, here's the situation. If I execute POPO005.sqr (PO print) using autosys
(a scheduling program) pointing to the 4.3.2 SQR executable, I get the
following error:

(SQR 5528) ORACLE OEXEC error -1461 in cursor 83:
ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column.

if I execute from within PSoft process scheduler using the 4.2.3 executable,
the program(s) complete successfully.

The value I am experiencing a problem with follows this course:

select of a long column into a column variable.
massage the column variable into a global string variable.
substring 1-250 of the global string variable into another global string
variable.
insert the global string variable into the table.
blow up with error above.

Does the new sqr executable do something different with the variables
internally, where it remembers what the column variable type is???
Has anyone else seen this???

What we are going to do is relink everything to the older executable,
because we know it works, but we still want to solve the problem.

help!!

thanks in advance,
clark
