Payroll Question -Reply

Are checks created for the EE's with Pay_Line_Status = 'E'?

I must admit we've never queried ps_pay_earnings after a calc and before a
confirm.

Is it possible that pay_line_status = 'E' does not necessarily create an error
message? Is it possible it is just some kind of warning holder and confirm
changes the status? Seems unlikely, but who knows. PeopleSoft should, but
they are the same people telling you to look at the log (snicker).

My first thought would be to fix the EE's with error messages and recalc. See
what happens, see if any of the others go away. See if you still get Check
Messages!! even when there are no messages. I bet not. I bet you only get
Check Messages!! if there are error messages in the table for the paygroup.

That's not much better than the PeopleSoft answer of recalc all, but I would
have
suggested that too.

After the successful completion of PayCalc I perform a query
to find all employees with Pay_Line_Status = 'E'. This
returns about 300. Of these 300, only a portion are
represented in the Pay_Messages records. What else
should I check to identify the error and possible resolution.

According to PeopleSoft, through searching their site, I
should check the LOG. This, of course, tells me nothing.
Only information in the LOG is the number of checks already
calc'd, number of checks to calc, and if there are any
messages to check. Of the 300 errors, 280 are in one
paygroup. The LOG indicates to check messages!! - but
there aren't enough messages for this paygroup.

Further, PS identifies a potential source of the E code for
employees (PS_PAY_EARNINGS) if someone is in the
HRMS system and is updating a row in the tables used by
calc. No one was in the system at the time of calc, so this
isn't the cause, however, they suggest to do a RECALC ALL.
Again, no help.

Any guidance would be GREATLY appreciated.
