This seems to be a hot topic lately - just write a batch file w/ the
following command for sqr:
drive_letter:
cd\psroot\sqrbinw
sqrw q:\path_to_.sqr_file DB_name/user/password parameters & flags (such as
-mpath\allmaxes.max -XCB etc.)
To run subsequent processes base on this sqr, you can run another sqr report
that does a simple query on the the PSPRCSRQST table. Something like this:
begin-select
RUNSTATUS
let &RUNSTATUS = $Runstatus
FROM PSPRCSRQST
WHERE [include constraints to pull the correct row, such as WHERE PRCSNAME =
'[the one that was scheduled] and ENDDTTM = (SELECT MAX(ENDDTTM) from
PSPRCSRQST)
end-select
Depending on the response, run your next sqr or whatever you want.
RUNSTATUS LEGEND
1 = Cancel
2 = Delete
3 = Error
4 = Hold
5 = Queued?
6 = Initiated?
7 = Processing
8 = ?
9 = Success
Regarding Cobol processes, I don't really know if you can schedule this from
a batch file, but I suspect you can. Just check the product documentation
to see if you can launch it w/ a MS-DOS command. Or else you can just
schedule an SQR and have the SQR launch your COBOL.
The only problem about lauching SQR from a batch file is that you have to
encode your password into the batch file, so security is severely lacking.
However, it looks like there has been some talk lately about how to pull a
secured (such as encrypted) password form outside of the file.
Hope this info helps,
-Steve
