Accessing data from 2 databases simultaneously

Hello, all.  I am running on a sql-server platform and would like to
connect to another database without having to log out of the current
database within SQR.  I came across a parameter to add to the end of the
Begin-Select called '-DB'.  Is this what I would have to use to connect
to another database, and if it is, how do I use it, i.e. do i need to
input username and password and what is the syntax.
