Hi Ben,
I have coded a similar program on SQL Server.
Here is a sample sql statement

BEGIN-SELECT  -DBDSN=CURDEVDB;UID=sa;PWD=aaaaa
Z.EFFDT
Z.EFF_STATUS
Z.CR_LIMIT
 Z.COLLECTION_STATUS
 FROM PS_CUST_CREDIT Z
 WHERE Z.SETID = &A.SETID
AND Z.CUST_ID = $a.cust_id
END-SELECT

You need first setup an ODBC connection string.
If you don't know where it is
 Start ---> Setting --->control panel --->ODBC
The datasource name you give there should be the
-DBDSN name.
