Re: Importing files into SQR report

Well, if you could get them to provide you the spreadsheet
as a text file, then you could read the text file from your sqr
and format the data into columns yourself. That would be
the easiest and most "controllable" way from your perspective.

Since I don't know anything about your architecture or who
has ownership of the file, I can't discuss from those perspectives wether or not this is a viable solution. However, it the issue is
simply that you have an excel file, and need to get it into the report, doing a textfile read would be my preferred way to go.

I'm currently working on a system which produces price lists using SQR. The
users of this system frequently need to insert Excel spreadsheets within
these price lists. To do this, they need to designate a page in the report
as a placeholder for the inserted spreadsheet. After the report is run,
they replace this page with the spreadsheet.

The problem is that this is this only way known to incorporate spreadsheets
into price lists. This is a time consuming task since the user needs to
manually place logos, headers and footers in the excel spreading so that it
looks and is formatted like the generated report.

In a nutshell, is there any capability within SQR that would allow you to
import such things as spreadsheets into an SQR report? If not, is there
another tool that would allow for this capability?

Thanks in advance for any insight that you may be able to provide me.
