How to run a shell script with in sqr and check status

As a part of our pay cycle we need to FTP check file after verifying amounts.
Currently one sqr(chverify.sqr) verifyes  check totals. Based on the success
of this sqr(chverify.sqr), check file will be manually  sent to file print
server. Is there any way to run this FTP shell script with in the
sqr(chverify.sqr) and check the status of FTP.
