SQR for ODBC connectivity
I have the task of selecting data from a legacy database called HP
TurboImage and inserting it into an Oracle7 database. I have been told by
a SQRIBE Technical gentleman that SQR for ODBC will do the job. I am
evaluating a copy of Visual SQRIBE which contains Personal SQR for ODBC
V4.3.2.1. I am simply trying to select records from the legacy database
and insert them into the Oracle7 database. On pg. 51 of the SQR Language
reference version 4 manual I find the -DBconnection string (ODBC) argument.
It uses the argument as follows:
DSN=data_source_name[;keyword=value[keyword=value[;...]]]
I have ODBC drivers for both the legacy database I am selecting from, and
the Oracle7 database I am writing to.
When I enter these arguments on the BEGIN-SELECT and BEGIN-SQL lines, I get
the dialog box for my Windows 32 bit ODBC drivers and asks me to select an
ODBC driver. I thought I selected the ODBC driver in the BEGIN-SELECT and
BEGIN-SQL argument -DB. Oh, I just learned that there is a bug
(4748) in the BEGIN-SQR -DB argument: you have to set a string variable to
the argument string and use the string variable in the -DB argument...but
guess what? Doing this, I still have the same problem.
Can anyone help me out there...anyone with SQR for ODBC experience?
