Syntax help for print command

Hi, folks! I'm a database consultant who's been tossed into the middle
of a quagmire. My customer bought an application that has a Sybase backend
and most of the reports are written in either C or SQR using shared
procedures. The app vendor wants to do all the add-on stuff like new reports,
but then gives a 9-12 month estimate on when they can get to the work!
So in I come with the cape and tights, and we've gotten to the point where
we know our way around the database, and I've banged out a bunch of C code
for them, but they've just tossed me into SQR land, and natch, the app
vendor has failed to pass along the manuals.
Since the SQRIBE website seems devoid of any useful information (are they
the last company to not have their manuals on their website?), and while
my client is battling with the app vendor to find their license info to
get a support contract, I'm here in the middle with a deadline and some
SQR code! Fortunately, it's the user list to the (hopeful!) rescue.
I've successfully gotten through most of the details by looking at examples
and by understanding report writing in general, but one thing has me stumped:
What the blazes are the 3 values in parentheses in the print statement??
My best guess was (lines_down, spaces_over, num_of_chars), but the way
these get used doesn't seem quite consistent with that.
Thanks in advance for any and all clues!
