Yes, it is possible, but it's definitely a pain.

Go to http://www.sqrug.com/~sqrusers/search/ and search for the word
"factorial" for a response to this question posted a few months ago,
complete with a sample program.  (Searching for "recursive" will also give
you the answer, but not quite so quickly.)
