Hey, spend the money, get visual slick edit or codewright. It is worth it if you are serious about working with data and code.

I personally use Notepad, which is probably very similar to Textpad.
Wordpad (another Microsoft "Accessory") is slightly more sophisticated,
it has some color/text manipulation capabilities.  Depending on how you
are running your SQR's, you should pay close attention to extra, unseen
characters, which are sometimes intoduced into your file with a "fancy"
editor.
