How To Compile SQR's

I am looking for information on compiling SQR's to run on MVS against DB2.
I've looked through the SQR documentation, and found little or no mention of
how to compile SQR's.  Any information about how to run the compiles, or
advantages and disadvantages of running the compiled SQT's would be greatly
appreciated.  We are using SQR with PeopleSoft.
