Paul,

The reason I need to optimize the code in sqr is that, for whatever
reason, I don't have access to use 'spoofy' on the mainframe.  Therefor,
in order to optimize code I need to copy it out of one program and place
it in a new program and run just that sql code.  When I do that, I want
to be able to see how the code is hitting the database.

can I use this code somehow within sqr? like within a begin-sql or
something?

EXPLAIN PLAN SET QUERYNO = [unique ID for query, if PLAN_TABLE is empty
you can use a value of 1] FOR [your SELECT statement];
