The best option I find is to run daily jobs on the server via batch.
Everyone will benefit..running daily jobs on the client involves too
much pointing and clicking

Subject: Running SQR's on client vs. Unix Server.
We have recently purchased an HR/Payroll package call CSS
HRizon,
which is basically, an older version of PeopleSoft. Of
course, the
payroll processes are a mix of SQR's and Cobol processes.
My
understanding is that the Process Scheduler has a lot to be
desired
when handling errors and/or abends of programs. My
question is
directed to those running Payroll related SQR's. By the
way, we are
using HP Unix/Oracle on the server side, and we pay around
5000
employees. My question is, would it be better to move the
processing
to the server, and create batch processes using the Unix
system, or
is
the Process Scheduler an adequate tool, for reliable, fast,
and
smooth
payroll processing. Let me know what you have learned from
your
experience. The answer may be 'it depends'. If so, please
help me
understand what questions I need to answer, in making a
decision.
Thanks for your help! I have benefited a lot from this
group!
