Using hints in SQR 2.4.2

Does anyone know of a way to use index hints in a BEGIN-SELECT
statement in SQR 2.4.2?  We have a need to give some of the
SQL statements hints and can't find a way to do it.  Is an upgrade
the answer?  Thanks in advance.
