Well.... I figured it out
 
all it needs is to wrap the RANK function with INTEGER or CHAR function.

Thanks Paul, unfortunately that didn't work; I'm getting the following 
error:(SQR 1305) CMPSQL: Unknown data type in database: 492. The program runs 
without issues when I comment the line with the rank function, to make sure its 
not the rest of my program causing the error.
