Re: [sqr-users] SQR 6.2 with Oracle 10g
Kim, Ian, et al.,
I currently have SQR 6.2 on Solaris using 9i client against a 9i
database. I need to upgrade to an Oracle 10g database and want to know
if I also need to upgrade to the 10g client and a newer version of SQR.
I assume that my two options are: 1) old sqr with 10g client, or 2) old
sqr with 9i client (Kim's scenario). I don't mind going to a newer
version of SQR eventually, but need to know if I have to do it right
away. Sounds like Kim was able to get things working using approach #2,
but not without some difficulty. Ian's situation is a little different
since he's using an ODBC connection; we're using the Oracle native
interface version.
Is anyone out there using scenario #1: 10g database, 10g client,
Solaris, SQR 6.2? Do I need to "relink" sqr 6.2 with the 10g libraries?
If so, is this painful? Does the resulting SQR program work without
causing me to introduce changes to my SQR code? We're using SQTs, but
it's not a problem for us to recompile.
Thanks for your help.
