Folks, I've asked some tough questions in the past and got no responses.
Ram asked a question that seemed too easy and he got bashed. I don't think
this forum has a rule setting a strict range of
questions that are permissable. If you don't want to help someone, why go to
the effort of attacking him?

Send me some money and I'll send you the code. I'll even throw in a bridge or
two!

So if I have this analogy right, the pole is "google and SQRUG archives"
and the hook and line is 'CALL SYSTEM USING ***' ...what was the worm again?
maybe the MAN pages on Unix?
Put them all together and now Ram can fish? funny analogy.
I agree with Clark and Richard. Basically you're saying "well I've tried
nothing and I'm all out of ideas." Do some research with
Google (great tool), the archives, some Unix documentation. Most of your
questions will probably answer themselves within a few
hours. THEN if you get stuck or there's some related question once you get
going ("what way is faster, has anybody done it this way,
etc") then ask the group.
Everyone joined this group to get help/tips on serious or tough questions, not
to do someone else's work for them.

search the sqrug archives for call system.... use the Unix man
function
for sort.... check the sqr language reference manual for call system using....

well..thats what iam also looking for...

Better you should learn how to fish than merely get a fish, no?
Do you have a unix command that does the sort you want? This is where I would
start.

Hi,
I want to sort a file using the unix sort command. I need to sort a
specific field alone. After sorting I need to write the
sorted output to another file.
It would be gr8 if some one can give me a sample code in sqr to do this.
Thanks in Advance
Ram
