Close.
What happens is that Windows encloses the document in a Windows print
control "packet". It takes over the printer control so if you have
HPPCL (Hewlett Packard Printer Control Language) as part of your
document (SQR will put it there if you tell it to when you define a
printer), it will appear as text instead of being interpreted by the
printer.

Tracy,
It may have nothing to do with SQR or PeopleSoft.
When you print from Windows to your HP Laser, it sends everything the
laser needs for perfectly matching your font.
When not using Windows, it's not always perfect. The application sends
the font characteristics that it's looking to match. For example, a 10
point sans-serif italicized font in the Arial family. When the printer
receives this font selection sequence it performs a "CLOSEST MATCH".
In other words, if the font selection being made for your Check Stubs
can NOT be matched exactly, your laser is going to try to come close.
In this case, it sounds like it's close on everything except the
Character Set -- sounds like it's using symbol character set.
See if the Lasers have a "Font Report" available from their control
panel. If they do, compare the 8150's report to one of the other Lasers
and see where they differ.
If the output could be dumped to a file, you could parse out the escape
sequences for the font selection and then figure out exactly why it's
not matching. Not sure whether it's that critical.

Subject: [sqr-users] Check Stub Printing SQR
I have been working with SQR's for approximately 2 years, since our
company started using ADP (Automatic Data Processing) as our HRIS
system. The software is based off of Peoplesoft. We recently did an
upgrade and for some reason our check stub printing program is printing
correctly on all HP printers except at one of our locations. I haven't
had any other issues except for the one location who has an HP Laserjet
8150 - the check stub prints all symbols for all the wording on the
stub, but the numbers print out fine. I have tried to replicate the
problem printing on the HP Laserjet printers at my location (HP 8100's)
and don't have any issues. I had the location set their printer to the
Factory Default font to make sure no issues were on that side. Can
anyone think of any reason why the output prints differently on similar
HP printers?
Thank you for any assistance,
Tracy
