In cases like this, you can establish a mirror of the mainframe SQRs by 
putting the source code through a tool like SQR Tree.  It won't help on 
error identification but the tree like visual allows you to drill down into 
the includes and trace the code.  See "dash board" white paper at 
http://www.dssltd.com for some examples or search SQRUG for SQR Tree.  I 
have a legitmate copy but can not remember the author.  (Not at my regular 
site).
