I don't know if this was answered completely or not, but the answer varies
depending upon your PeopleSoft Tools release. If you are on Tools release
7.5x or earlier, both type definitions called the SQR compiler directly, but
the type definition for SQR Processes did not include the parameters
Operator ID and Run Control ID (it was left up to the individual process
definition to determine if they were necessary); the type definition for SQR
Reports did. As of version 8.x, both type definitions call the utility
program PSSQR.EXE (not the compiler) and the two definitions are identical,
with both containing the Operator ID and Run Control ID parameters. So as of
version 8.x, it makes absolutely no difference which one you use, you will
get the exact same result. From a Philosophical perspective, SQR Report
should be use for any type of report program that you create, whereas SQR
Process should be used for any type of interface or database update program.
I hope this is helpful.
