Re: [sqr-users] CSV output ftom SQR program

Nabil,

Excel is confused by what you're doing. CSV stands for comma-separated
values, so Excel will only accept a comma as the delimiter.

If you want Excel to just open the file without any problems, use comma
for a delimiter (and .CSV for the extension) or use tab as a delimiter
and use .XLS as the extension (that's what I do - Excel opens it just
fine).

You could also look into SYLK (I think) - that is a better solution but
more complicated. But I don't know much about it.

Hello,

I currently have an Unix SQR program (SQR for PeopleSoft V8.42) that
generates CSV output file (done with write commands).

When I open this file from Peoplesoft process scheduler, it opens
perfectly (semicolomn for delimiter) in Internet Explorer (with Excel
plug-in).

1) When I save it to my PC local hard disk and try to double-click,
Excel starts but doesn't open it correctly. It seems looking for comma
as delimiter without asking any choice. Is anyone aware about this stuff
?

2) Othwerwise, I'd like to know if it's possible to convert an SPF file
to a CSV file ? I tried with SQRP but I'm not lucky. I'd appreciate any
help.

Cheers.
