Thanks, Russ, since it is apparently failing in the compile phase, I don't 
think it would even be trying to connect at that point; I think it would do 
that once it has compiled and started running.  Actually, there had been a 
problem at the time this originally started where the account used in the 
dblink had lost its password, but that has since been restored.  I am able to 
run anything using that dblink except this program.

I would suspect that something has changed with dblink and that this is
either not connecting or really slow.
