Here is the definition of the SQR Users Group, from the website:
"The SQR Users Group is a not-for-profit group created in order to
facilitate the free (or nearly free) exchange of information related to
SQR."
I believe that the history of SQR comes under the definition of "information
related to SQR." There is nowhere that it is specified that only problems
with programming are to be discussed. This is not the "SQR Problems Group;"
it is the "SQR Users Group." As such, many of us ARE interested in SQR
itself, and its history.
To equate the discussion of the history of SQR with the extremely offensive
rantings and ravings of that other thread is absurd.
Just my 2 cents worth,

Your point is well taken, Bob. I guess it depends on the exact definition
of the purpose of this forum. It seems to me that the history of SQR is not
that far from SQR programming problems. Sometimes the history of something
gives us a better understanding of its current state, and to get a better
understanding of SQR is the purpose of this forum. Also, there is no other
forum to discuss the history of SQR, while there are other forums to discuss
economics, careers, national security, international trade, and immigration
policy.
In any case, I think the topic has been covered completely. There may be a
few stragglers, but I'll bet that most of the discussion will be on SQR
programming problems. Although, who knows? You and I may have started a
new thread - "what is the purpose of this forum?"

Thanks for the URL Steve, I'll keep it mind.
Really folks, I don't care what is sent. I can hit the delete button if I
don't want to read it. I just find it amusing that when the "foreigners are
stealing our jobs" guy post something, everyone is on him to use this forum
for
the correct purpose. He even sent a job opportunity for a SQR person and
was
told this wasn't the correct forum for that. Some of the people who are
critical of him for using the forum for his own use are the same ones that
responded to me that they find the history of SQR exciting and are glad it
is
on the forum. Just trying to keep it consistent.
