Just to let everyone know, we had the same issue with wanting to print
directly to an HP printer.  I used several programs to convert the file
to HPGL format.  Nothing worked until I tried Ray's program.  It worked
great converting a clear image.  Some shading was lost, but it wasn't
really a big deal.

Of course, after getting it to work, the users decided they didn't want
the output going directly to a printer, so we changed to using GIF files
and using PDF output.

format for HP/GL images needed by SQR.  Visit our sqr library
