And yet another tale in the Saga of PeopleSoft vs. Oracle. Does anyone else
remember about 1-2(?) years ago when PeopleSoft started putting feelers out to
their clients about no longer supporting Oracle? We got all this info about
how other databases were benchmarking faster, and that they were looking at
discontinuing their support for Oracle sometime in the future? I do beliee
they
backed off because for so many years they were pushing Oracle as the best
database to use back-end, of course that was before Oracle started pushing
their
own front end tools.

I have to agree- it seems like these two companies have been after each other
for a while now. Kind of reminds me of bully's on a playground at school
time. My biggest concern if this happens, is the impact to all the customers
who
rely on the tax updates, crucial fixes that are in the works and general
support (such that it is).

Does anyone here have experience working on Oracle's front end stuff? I
would be curious to find out what their support is like and how buggy their
product is in comparision to PeopleSoft. And does Oracle not use SQR? I have
only
used Oracle as a back-end database, so I am not familiar with what it
does/does not do.

Denise
