I agree with you Billy, but we want to place this SQR on a panel so the user
can run it.

Why not just have the perl script do the whole thing it handles FTP
and system/fork/exec radically better than SQR?  What does the SQR do
that wouldn't be easier, faster and more maintainable in perl?
