RE: [sqr-users] 64 bit SQR

All,

The issue here is not whether or not SQR is a 64Bit product but rather as to
whether or or not is has been ported to the architecture (it has not) and
also to that specific OS (it has not).

So it boils down to the ROI of porting SQR to that platform/OS and all the
database clients supported for that platfor/OS.

SQR is a 32Bit product on Sun/SPARC/Solaris, HP/PA-RISC/HP-UX,
IBM/Power3/AIX, RedHat/Intel/Linux, Microsoft/Intel/Windows. SQR is a 64Bit
product on HP/ALPHA/Tru64.

All database clients support 32Bit and some are 64Bit (they also support
32Bit -- you just have to make sure they are installed).

Connectivity from a 32Bit client to a 64Bit server is not a problem. The
xxBit refers to the size of the instruction set being used and not data.

Jon,

What database are you using? I heard of a similar problem on Solaris
with Oracle where we simply made sure that we were using the 32 bit
Oracle libraries.

You might also try re-linking sqr (sqrmake in the lib directory),
but I'm not sure if that will help.

What have you tried so far?
