Dave,

how are you trying to print this???  You can always use the substr command 
and just grab a subset of the long value, say the first 250 characters or 
something.

I am using SQR server 4.3.4

I am trying to use the print command to print  a long data type field and I 
keep getting this error

ORA-00997: illegal use of LONG datatype.

Is printing all or part of this field type possible. If so what do you
suggest.
