[sqr-users] for-append with Excel

Has anyone successfully used "open...for-append" with an Excel 
spreadsheet?  The spreadsheet opens fine, but nothing is getting 
written/appended.  Simple example:


     open 'C:\windows\Desktop\test.xls' as 1 for-append record=10000

     write 1 from 'HELLO'

     close 1

Works for .txt files fine, but not for Excel.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
