RE: [sqr-users] Freeze column names in xls output file

Unlikely that MicroSoft would allow that :-)

Thank again Jim:

I have tried this, but in vain - SQR can neither directly create an
EXCEL file nor can append the data to an EXCEL file (not CSV file
format). May be the future version of SQR can solve this issue.

Hi Ven,
You should be able to open the file For-Append instead of For-Writing.
I
think that should work.

Thanks Jim,
For the helpful hint and Good Luck. I think I am pushing my luck
here.
Does SQR allows appending (for-append) the data to EXCEL file -
(reading
from a csv file)?

Thanks,
Ven Garlapati

Hi Ven,

I've used the slk format quite a bit, and I'm quite certain freezing is
not
supported by slk.

The way I usually test the compatibility of a feature is to create an
Excel
file with the feature I'm interested in. Then I 'save as' the file to
the
.slk type. Then I close Excel. Finally, I double click on the
filename and
up it comes in Excel. This is the test - is the feature still there?
If
not, it is not supported and I forget about it. If it is still there,
then
I load the file in a text editor and try to figure out how the feature
is
represented in the file so I can produce it in SQR.

Good luck.
Jim

Hi all,

I just used "slk file format" to produce a xls file. It works great,
but
now the user wants the freeze the column names in the xls output, so it
will
be easy to scroll down or up on the data with column names visible on
top
all the time. I have tried to use the same .slk file format for this
as
well, but in vain. Any information would be helpful.

Thanks,
Ven Garlapati
