We need more information, most specifically, what OS are we talking about?
additionally, depending on the OS, and how you are executing the sqr, you
can check for the file in the shell script before you execute the sqr
program.

Is there (or have any of you written) and 'Exists' Function in SQR? I need
to know if a file exists before I attempt to process it.
