Hey Teri,
That is the whole POINT of a listserv/newsgroup.
You subscribe to it, and then from then on, you receive EVERY e-mail
that gets sent to the main e-mail address (in this case:
SQR-USERS@list.iex.net). This listserv is SUPPOSED to be like a very
active discussion of SQR that includes EVERYONE who is subscribed to it.
(as for those weird 'so and so will be out of the office' messages...
that is just a side-effect of people who have set up an auto-reply for
their e-mail accounts)
It sounds like you didn't realize what you were getting into when you
joined the mailing list. Here are instructions on how to leave the
mailing list:
You may leave the list at any time by sending a "SIGNOFF
SQR-USERS"
command to LISTSERV@LIST.IEX.NET. You can also tell LISTSERV how you
want
it to confirm the receipt of messages you send to the list. If you do
not
trust the system, send a "SET SQR-USERS REPRO" command and LISTSERV
will
send you a copy of your own messages, so that you can see that
the
message was distributed and did not get damaged on the way. After a
while
you may find that this is getting annoying, especially if your
mail
program does not tell you that the message is from you when it
informs
you that new mail has arrived from SQR-USERS. If you send a
"SET
SQR-USERS ACK NOREPRO" command, LISTSERV will mail you a
short
acknowledgement instead, which will look different in your
mailbox
directory. With most mail programs you will know immediately that this
is
an acknowledgement you can read later. Finally, you can turn
off
acknowledgements completely with "SET SQR-USERS NOACK NOREPRO".
Have a good weekend!
Andrew

The attached is an example of the email messages I keep receiving. Why
am
I receiving all of these messages?
Please remove from me from the SQR-USERS list!
