Print-Direct and PDF Reports

I'm trying to create a PDF report containing commands
that would print MICR characters on a Xerox printer.
Currently an HP type report is being produced.

I assume it is not possible to use the print-direct
command to print to a PDF file.

And I assume it is not possible to use the
code-printer argument on the print command to print to
a PDF type of report.

My question:  is it possible to first create a
Postscript file (using print-direct printer=ps ...)
and then convert the PS file to a PDF using something
like Ghostscript?
