ODBC not connecting to Sybase database specified

I am having a database connection problem with ODBC, SQR and Sybase.  I make
an ODBC connection
selecting a Sybase database on the server.  So far so good.  When I run my
SQR program  (which tells me what
database I am connected to)  After I choose my data connection, I get
connected to a different one than I selected
 in my ODBC connection.
I would appreciate any tips on how to make sure the database I want is the
one I get.
I am running Brio report builder 6.1.3 (Build 90), Under Windows NT, Using
Sybase version 12
