Have you tried using the unstring command?.

Unstring $source_string By '/' Into $variable1 $variable2 $variable3

I am trying to unstring a field from the database into 3 seperate
variables.
  The format of the field is xxxxxxxx/xxxxxxxx/xxxxxxx,x

The '/' is the deliminator.  Any help would be greatly appritiated.
