Re: SQR going away in PeopleSoft 8?

The statement AE doesn't do reporting is true, but wherever possible the SA
team plans to use AE to produce reporting tables or txt files so Crystal can
do the reporting. We are so frustrated with SQR and it's device dependent
coding.

Every time there is a new tool added to the PeopleSoft suite, rumors
abound about the fate of SQR. It also happened when the Crystal
product was added.

No need to start the countdown on SQR. The investment is too large.
And the need is still there and will continue to be.

Do, however expect some reduction in dependence. Most interfaces are
expected to migrate to Application Engine (eventually). Less complex
reports will continue to slowly migrate to Crystal. But, if an
interface requires an associated report, it is better done in SQR
since AE doesn't do reporting.

The high powered complex reports such as payroll checks and registers
are still best done in SQR.
