We were told that PS bought the source code by a PeopleCode
instructor. She didn't know a lot more than that, but she did confirm that
PS has *not* attempted to rebuild things from SQR into AppEngine.
After all, PIA was plenty of work - and PS is very committed to backwards
compatibility, as we saw in that class with all the five-version-old
PeopleCode functions that are still supported...
I think your comments about the future of SQR and PS make a lot of sense,
Ray - my only additional thought would be that five years is a looooooong
time in this business, so who knows where we'll end up. But in the short
term, it looks like PS may just be "branding" their version by call it
"Version 8", but hopefully not making any big changes.
Gosh, it sure would be nice to find a good PS source for information on
what they've done or plan to do with their version of SQR, eh?
