alter-printer problem

Hi there!
I've been trying to figure out how to use alter-printer. Tried putting it in
the procedure where the printing is done. It gave me Error SQR 6221. Somebody
suggested using setup31.sqc. Then I got error 4707 no value found for
substitution variable for the printers defined in the sqc.
can anybody help me out???
