Running out of expression space
- Subject: Running out of expression space

Hi everyone,
I'm writing an SQR program that builds up a text string containing XML in
order to store it in a single column of a database table. My code has lots
of statements like this:
LET $xml_string=$xml_string||'<gross>'||$total_gross||'</gross>'
The code was working ok until I added another header file with a number of
related programs to it an now it crashes with the error:
Error on line 370:
(SQR 4038) Out of space while processing expression; Use -Mfile to
increase EXPRESSIONSPACE.
I've increased EXPRESSIONSPACE in my -M file to the maximum it will allow
(65535) but still get the message.
Could anyone tell me what exactly expression space is used for and suggest
any ways round my problem please?
I'm using SQR 4.3.4 on AIX Version 4 Unix on an Oracle 7.3.4 database.
Thanks,
Jill
