Not sure if that can be done or not, but why not try the following:
1) Read old file
2) Write new file with updated values
3) Rename old file to different name
4) Rename new file to old file
You can use the SQR rename command to rename files and shuffle them around
giving the appearance of writing to the same file.

Subject: Read and Write the same Flat File ???
Hi All,
Its been a long time since I've worked on an SQR program. I
need your help
on this one. Any ideas are welcome.
I need to write an SQR that reads a flat file and then
updates the same file
at one particular column position based on a criteria. I
have written SQR's
that reads a flat file and generates a flat file, but not
of this nature,
where its supposed to update the same file that is being
read. Has anyone
done this before ? I appreciate any ideas or solutions on
this.
Thanks
SJ
